This position is responsible for the management of the credit underwriting, and commercial loan administration & documentation functions within the credit department.  A particular focus will be on staff development and training, underwriting pipeline management, loan documentation and closing pipeline management, and recommending efficient and effective processes to improve and maintain optimal workflow turnaround.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Supervise commercial credit analysts/underwriters who are responsible for assessing credit risk related to loan requests and for preparing credit proposal summaries, annual reviews, loan modifications, and any other related internal approval documents for both performing and non-performing borrowers.
2. Supervise commercial loan administrators who are responsible for commercial loan documentation, support of the loan closing process, and other specialized servicing tasks.
3. Assumes responsibility for staff training and development to ensure a high level of quality customer service.
4. Accountable for the training and development of credit staff
5. Effective management of the credit department pipeline; chair of the weekly pipeline meeting
6. Underwrites complex commercial loan requests
7. Works closely with the Chief Lending Officer and Chief Credit Officer to recommend appropriate policies and procedures, as needed.
8. Participates in a variety of bank committees, as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervision of credit analysts and commercial loan administrators

1. Minimum of 10+ years’ of experience in hands-on credit management, some familiarity with risk scoring models
2. Bachelor’s degree required, MBA looked upon favorably
3. Must be proficient at analyzing and structuring all standard commercial loan products as well as specialty products such as asset-based financing, leveraged loans, investment commercial real estate mortgages, etc.
4. Strong record of accomplishment in coaching, mentoring, developing, and supervising credit analysts/underwriters.
5. Knowledge of workout situations and experience underwriting a wide range of complex transactions.
6. Exposure to loan review and portfolio administration
7. Familiarity with the COCC/Insight operating system is preferred
8. Familiarity with the Loan Vantage loan operating system is preferred
9. A working knowledge of small business lending, SBA, and exception-managed portfolios preferred
