We’re recruiting for an outstanding opportunity for an enthusiastic, self-motivated Geotechnical Engineer to join a well-established, privately-held geotechnical engineering firm.  This person will have the opportunity to grow towards an ownership position while helping to build an even better company for the future.

 

This firm has been in business in California since 1969.  They are a well-established, financially secure, well respected in the communities that they serve, and are consistently among Engineering New Record’s top 500 design firms in the United States. 

 

Their Palmdale office has been identified by management as having great potential for growth in the next few years, somewhat related to the revived aeronautical industry.  This office is the only DSA and Caltrans-certified laboratory in the Antelope Valley.

 

The successful candidate will be challenged by the technical work, and will also cultivate new market opportunities that exist in this area

 

Responsibilities: 


1. Perform/Supervise Geotechnical Engineering Investigations

  • Analyze field and laboratory data and perform calculations using appropriate methods, including geotechnical software
  • Develop geotechnical criteria for various types of projects, including those in public, private, military, educational and healthcare sectors, including analysis and recommendations for shallow and deep foundations, settlement, liquefaction, and slope stability
  • Prepare geotechnical reports, grading reports, special inspection reports, and other types of documents

2. Supervise Construction Inspection/Materials/Testing

  • Working knowledge regarding projects under construction for which Earth Systems is providing geotechnical inspection/materials testing services
  • Develop cost estimates for construction inspection/materials testing projects
  • Help schedule/supervise Earth Systems personnel and subcontractors
  • Solve problems in the field
  • Provide technical and operational guidance to lower level staff, including technicians, inspectors, staff engineers, and dispatcher

3. Materials Testing Laboratory

  • Help oversee the Caltrans and DSA-approved laboratory
  • Eventually take over as the DSA Laboratory Engineer of Record
Requirements: 
  • B.S. Civil Engineering or Geology
  • Registered Professional Engineer or Engineering Geologist, California (required)
  • Registered Geotechnical Engineer, California (desirable)
