Description: POSITION: Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineer REPORTS TO: Division Vice President LOCATION: Raleigh, NC 27601 OVERVIEW A leading manufacturer/supplier of products and services used in the wireless communications industry has an immediate opening for a Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineer at its facility located in the Raleigh, N.C., area. This facility is headquarters of the company’s division that supports turnkey services for both indoor and outdoor small cell and Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) solutions for its customers. The Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineer will be directly involved with all levels of the product lines from design to final installation.
Responsibilities: PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES The Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineer will have these primary responsibilities: • Use engineering skills to prepare calculations for metal structures and cabinets, initiate, modify, and recommend approval of drawings. • Review drawings for production feasibility and cost impact. • Recommend/implement drawing changes for reduction in production time and ease of assembly. • Recommend/initiate production process changes to improve productivity and meet cost targets. • Perform basic to moderate design tasks including site preparation, structural, electrical layout and design plans. • Provide technical input to managerial personnel regarding design, construction, or program modifications or structural repairs. • Interpret drawing during construction, operations, or maintenance activities at project site. • Estimate quantities and cost of materials, equipment, or labor to determine project feasibility. • Design energy efficient or environmentally sound structures. • Determine design specifications. • Initiate daily communication throughout organization and externally on project and product status. • Direct interaction with customers demonstrating design acumen, package solutions, and understanding of industry requirements. • Ability to travel to customer locations which may require overnight stays. • Lead personnel to achieve production goals.
Requirements: REQUIREMENTS • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, or related field of study; lean certification a plus. • Knowledge of Telecommunication standards a plus. • 10+ years of production floor experience. • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services. • Knowledge of CAD systems and efficient use. Experience in Solidworks. • Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in cabinet, tubular and pole construction. • Knowledge of welding and associated codes. • Knowledge of Sheet metal forming and fabrication. • Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications. • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models. • Must work well in a group or team environment. • Ability to communicate information through speech and in writing to be easily understood by all personal, internal and external. • Ability to stay abreast of industry trends, best practice, and customer standards. • Knowledge of clerical and administrative procedure and system.
Compensation: COMPENSATION Salary up to $85,000, depending on qualifications and experience, plus full benefit package. Relocation allowance may be provided, as appropriate.
