Description: OVERVIEW A leading manufacturer of steel reinforced concrete equipment shelters with attendant electrical systems used in the electrical transmission and telecommunications industries has an immediate opening for an Electrical Design Engineer at its manufacturing facility near Shreveport, Louisiana. Reporting to the company’s Director of Engineering, the Electrical Design Engineer will join a team of engineers in this mid-level position to assist in the design, integration, delivery and installation of electrical components/systems to augment the company’s equipment shelter products.
Responsibilities: PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES The Electrical Design Engineer will have these primary responsibilities: • Prepare technical drawings, specifications of electrical systems to ensure that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements. • Operate computer-assisted engineering or design software or equipment to perform engineering tasks. • Confer with engineers, customers, or others to discuss existing or potential engineering projects or products. • Direct or coordinate manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, or testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, or customer requirements. • Design, implement, maintain, or improve electrical instruments, equipment, facilities, components, products, or systems. • Prepare specifications for purchases of materials or equipment. • Perform detailed calculations to compute and establish manufacturing, construction, or installation standards or specifications. • Oversee project production efforts to assure projects are completed on time and within budget. • Plan or implement research methodology or procedures to apply principles of electrical theory to engineering projects.
Requirements: REQUIREMENTS • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field and working toward professional engineer (PE) certification. • Five years of practical electrical engineering design experience within a manufacturing environment. • Four years of experience with occupational safety, industrial hygiene, or environmental controls preferably in steel manufacturing. • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services. • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models. • Background and or highly interested in solar grid tie systems, battery storage systems, telecommunications, power substations and/or renewable energy. • Familiarity with industry standards, such as NFPA (National Fluid Power Assn.), ANSI, OSHA, is required • Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills • Ability to identify problems, determine root causes, and implement countermeasures • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
Compensation: COMPENSATION Annual salary of $75,000 plus comprehensive benefit package. Local candidates preferred; relocation allowance may be offered as appropriate.
