Description: POSITION: Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineer – Heavy Industrial Manufacturing REPORTS TO: Director of Engineering LOCATION: Shreveport, LA 71101 SUMMARY A leading manufacturer of steel reinforced concrete equipment shelters used in the electrical transmission and telecommunications industries has an immediate opening for a Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineer at its manufacturing facility located near Shreveport, Louisiana. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineer will support all facets of the company’s manufacturing processes with design and materials specifications, calculations and drawing, estimates, and frequent interactions with production teams as well as site visits to ensure the completion of quality products and achieve high customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities: PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES The Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineer will have these primary responsibilities: • Preparing calculations for metal and pre-cast concrete structures, and initiating, modifying, and recommending approval of drawings. • Reviewing drawings for production feasibility and cost impact. • Recommending/implementing drawing changes for reduction in production time and ease of assembly. • Recommending/initiating production process changes to improve productivity. • Performing basic to moderate design tasks, including site preparation, structural, electrical layout and overall building plans. • Providing technical input to managerial personnel regarding design, construction, or program modifications or structural repairs. • Interpreting drawings during construction, operations, or maintenance activities at project site. • Estimating quantities and cost of materials, equipment, or labor to determine project feasibility. • Designing energy efficient or environmentally sound structures.
Requirements: REQUIREMENTS • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering, or related field, and working toward a professional engineer (PE) certification. Lean certification a plus. • Eight to 10 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in a heavy industrial steel or concrete manufacturing environment. • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services. • Knowledge of CAD systems and efficient use. Experience in AutoCAD and Inventor a plus. • Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings, or other structures. • Knowledge of welding and associated codes. • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models. • Willingness to travel up to 50 percent of the time.
Compensation: COMPENSATION Annual salary of $75,000 plus comprehensive benefit package. Local candidates preferred, but relocation allowance may be considered as appropriate.
