Description: POSTION: Lean Manufacturing Coach REPORTS TO: Plant General Manager LOCATION: Tulsa, OK 74120 SUMMARY A global leader in the manufacture of steel structures used in the electrical utility transmission and distribution industry has an immediate opening for a Lean Manufacturing Coach at its manufacturing facility in Tulsa, Okla. Reporting to the General Manager of this facility with dotted-line reporting to the company’s Utility Division Lean Coach, the Tulsa Lean Manufacturing Coach is primarily responsible for driving the Lean transformation of this site. The Lean Manufacturing Coach will train and coach plant management, supervisors, and staff in the application of Lean tools and processes to include 5S, VSM, TPM, standardization of work, Kanban, Kaizen events and key metrics associated with ongoing Lean improvement.
Responsibilities: RESPONSIBILITIIES • Guide the implementation of Lean principles and support the assessment process leading to the Tulsa plant developing, facilitating deployment and execution of Operational Excellence in Lean. • Work with the General Manager, Manufacturing Manager, and supporting plant management to develop and deploy Lean training through materials, a LMS and Lean trainers. • Assist in driving ever-improving results by leveraging Lean tools, consulting skills, and the change management process. • Create and provide the Tulsa facility with formal and informal Lean training at all levels of the organization. • Coach and promote all plant management, admin, supervisors, and hourly employees in Lean thinking and understanding. • Promote and facilitate employee development in various Lean tools, Lean principles and Kaizen leadership utilizing the company's Lean development program. • Build strong relationships throughout the plant and division to establish trust and credibility in the methodologies of Lean. • Coach and guide plant management, admin, supervisors, and hourly employees through Lean countermeasures including 5S, VSM, Standard Work and advanced problem solving utilizing the experience of Lean resources at all levels. • Assist the plant management, admin, and supervisors, in leveraging and facilitating the diagnosis of work flow impediments and other WASTE throughout the organization while also providing expert counsel on appropriate tools to eliminate them. • Assist the plant management in identifying appropriate relevant training, coaching and facilitation for Lean projects linked to the regional/divisional Lean Roadmap. • Assist the plant management, admin, and supervisors in defining and facilitating improvement activities in accordance to the site Lean Roadmap throughout the region/division and based on ‘Plan-Do-Check-Act/Adjust’ (PDCA) methodology.
Requirements: REQUIREMENTS • B.A., B.S., or B.T., or equivalent combination of education and work experience; Master’s degree preferred. • Lean training and certification based on the methodology and principles of the Toyota Production System (TPS) or similar systems is highly desirable. • Four years of experience driving Lean Transformation in combination with leadership experience; three to five years of experience driving a global Lean Transformation is preferred. • Previous experience as a Value Stream Manager, Lean Manager, Operational Excellence Leader, or Plant Management (Operation Manager, Plant Manager). • Proven ability to facilitate a successful Lean implementation (development and execution of a Lean Road Map). • Demonstrated knowledge of Lean thinking and the associated tools. • Proven success in developing, facilitating and delivering Lean training. • Strong ability to utilize computer software programs for graphics and presentation of Lean concepts.
Compensation: COMPENSATION Base salary of $85,000 plus performance bonus up to 10 percent and comprehensive benefit package. Relocation assistance may be offered, as appropriate.
