Description: POSITION: Divisional Welding Manager – Industrial Steel Fabrication REPORTS TO: Director of Quality LOCATION: Memphis, TN 38125 SUMMARY A leading diversified manufacturer of multiple products used in the construction and utility industries has an immediate opening for a Divisional Weld Manager to support the company’s utility towers/poles business unit. Reporting to the company’s Director of Quality, the Divisional Weld Manager will oversee welding personnel at the company’s manufacturing plants, located in Memphis, TN, and other sites in the United States. The Divisional Welding Manager will be responsible for maximizing the efficiency of manufacturing operations related to welding through developing, demonstrating, and testing welding processes and procedures.
Responsibilities: MAJOR RESPONSIBILTIES The Divisional Welding Manager has these responsibilities: • Develops, creates, and maintains PQR's, WPS, and Welder Worksheets. • Develops and maintains welding training programs for all facilities to implement into their plant training. • Designs, develops and improves manufacturing processes, layout, and tooling within a manufacturing environment. • Implements manufacturing process improvements; identifies opportunities for cost reduction, lead time reduction, inventory reduction and quality improvement; evaluates current machinery and layout; and recommends improvements that enhance productivity and safety • Performs complex calculations related to the specification of the facilities, including analysis and evaluation of welding related equipment, and ensures the purchasing and use of material meet cost and quality standards. • Develops, creates, and maintains improvement processes to optimize welding workstation from initiation through implementation. • Establishes, maintains, and interprets policies that govern weld programs at the company’s facilities.
Requirements: REQUIREMENTS • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in welding engineering; CWI certification highly desirable. • Minimum of seven to 10 years of relevant experience. • Expert knowledge of welding processes and equipment, and ability to apply state of the art metals and welding technology solutions. • Considerable working knowledge of industry standards, codes and requirements applicable to the product line of the specific business units including D1.1 welding code experience. • Ability to develop, demonstrate and test welding processes and procedures. • Ability to understand and communicate complex specifications and requirements to working documents and instruction.
Compensation: COMPENSATION Base salary up to $90,000, depending on qualifications and experience, plus performance bonus up to 10 percent. Relocation allowance offered, as appropriate.
